Biography

Count Gabba debuted in March 2009 as a solo-artist with the album «The Lady's Gone. The Song Remains». This self-confessed rocker was by then working with various Rock-, Punk- and Metal- Bands. The astonishment was pretty big, when Count Gabba brought together pieces from Americana-, Folk- and Country-Music. But the audience seemed to like his sublimation. Count Gabba was playing around 30 shows in Switzerland only in 2009.

The writing press had some difficulties with putting Count Gabba's music into a clear genre. Thanks to a journalist from a Sunday-Newspaper who was hitting the bull's eye by describing Count Gabba's music as «Country-Noir» and «Dark-Folk» facts became clearer. To avoid further questions of genre the singer and guitarist decided to simply name his second album «Country Noir». Basically it was no special challenge for Count Gabba to make Country and Americana his own. Country-Music is playing its role On Air and on TV also in Europe ever since. Country is bequeathed by generations and folks.

But Count Gabba's music has nothing in common with the best known ideal-world-country-music. He is more impressed by livelihood on the verge of existence even if this is not the life he leads. Blessedly Count Gabba is a sensitive observer and story-teller. The mustang on the cover of his new album «Country Noir» stands for a capricious ride: According to the gait of a wild horse songs like «We Shall Never Meet Again» or «Tired & Blue» are calm like normal grade is. The wild one starts trotting with songs like «2 Hot To Handle» or «The Ballad Of Cleopatra» before the mustang is galloping like a thoroughbred with the song «Let's! Make! Romance!».

Count Gabba for the first time ever worked his songs out with the help of his profound band: Arno Troxler on drums, Claudio Strebel on upright bass, Stefan Haas on banjo and guitar and Claudia Kienzler on violin and viola are high performing. Inspired by early country- and folk-records the authentic recordings by producer Tobias Gmür are about to fulfil the promises.

«Shame On You» sings Rita Hey in the correspondent duet. Shame on Count Gabba? Certainly not on «Country Noir'» This dusty piece of fourteen chaptered Americana persists as a whole. The stories of the Swiss based troubadour are convincing, his song-writing is matured. Whether it is honky tonk, folk or country Count Gabba goes for high risks without falling of the saddle. Imagining a redneck from the confederate states it would be stated the following about Count Gabba: Whitey man is singing country noir! Damn right.
